A SAL Content License provides an organization with the opportunity to use the following SAL assets across the entire enterprise:
- All SAL models presented in The Self-Aware Leader (ATD, 2012)
- Multiple versions of training programs and keynotes (virtual and in-person)
- Online Self- and 360 Assessments, plus the SAL Development Plan
- Communications templates for messaging with leaders and their managers
- Marketing assets (articles, quotes, LinkedIn posts, Canva brochures, etc.)
SAL materials may be customized and/or presented with your brand if you cite SAL content as © The Self-Aware Leader or © Adapted with permission, The Self-Aware Leader.
An individual license allows Certified Facilitators to use SAL models and deliver SAL content in their work in any way. This certification remains with the individual regardless of role or employer as long as they have satisfied the annual license fee.
The enterprise license provides multiple employees of the company access to use SAL content for internal delivery. Two differences from individual licenses are: SAL Certified Facilitators in that organization may certify others and (2) there is no annual license fee.
Certifications prepare trainers, coaches, speakers, consultants, and leaders to use SAL in their work. This starts with understanding the core mindset of the SAL model and then expands to best practices of how to use SAL in specific instances.
There are two options for certifications: public and private.
- Public certifications are hosted virtually each February, June, and September.
- Private certifications are scheduled with the SAL team and may be virtual or in-person.
All individuals interested in being certified are interviewed as a preliminary step. The goal of this interview is to assess foundational skills in and experience with leadership development. All certifications include:
- The pre-work is to read the SAL book, complete the SAL Self-Assessment, review the SAL Development Plan, and preview the SAL Playbooks and Welcome Videos.
- The main part of certification is 12 hours of training over two days to review Playbooks, conduct group teach backs, and share best practices.
- The post-work includes two 2-hour coaching circles scheduled weeks after the two days of training, plus options for 1×1 coaching sessions.
- This leads to quarterly development workshops for all SAL Certified Facilitators (optional, included in annual fee) as well as options for 1×1 coaching.
Can anyone buy a SAL Content License?
Anyone can inquire: corporate employees, nonprofit employees, and consultants. Interested candidates are interviewed and then invited to become certified.
Can the SAL content be modified?
Yes. You can modify, customize, rebrand content; you cannot edit core SAL models. All use of the content and models must clearly reference © The Self-Aware Leader.
How does pricing work?
A SAL Content License and Certification is $4,000, which includes the first annual license fee ($1,000 per year). SAL product pricing is separate. SAL Self-Assessments are $50 per person and SAL 360-Assessments are $200 per person. All SAL books are purchased through Amazon or the publisher. Bulk discounts are available.
Is there a certification?
Yes. There are two ways you can be certified: (1) attend a public certification, offered three times annually, or (2) schedule a private certification.
Is the certification tied to the employee or employer?
The certification is linked to the individual. Continue to pay the annual fee, and the certification follows you wherever you go even if your employer funded it originally.
Does SAL market their products + thought leadership?
Yes. SAL markets our products and community via a new SAL website and LinkedIn company page. Anyone can amplify SAL marketing or use/customize marketing as their own. SAL does not sell for consultants.
